Founded in 2019 by Lawrence (Larry) R. Chapman, Seneca Commercial Real Estate is a new real estate development firm focusing on opportunities and challenges in the St. Louis region. Built on the foundation of Larry’s successful career in real estate development that began in 1979, Seneca has been designed to attract and retain some of the region’s most committed and accomplished professionals as well as emerging new talent bringing fresh ideas for the future of our region.
For decades Larry has touched many of the region’s largest and most challenging projects and has undertaken equally complex developments throughout the country – most notably as a principal of Clayco’s CRG. Examples include successfully developing architecturally significant corporate headquarters for firms such as Centene Corporation, Pfizer Corporation, Solae, Express Scripts, and Zurich Insurance.
Seneca’s first project under its banner is a state of the art four (4) story office building and lab, serving the ag-tech industry for Benson Hill at the Danforth Plant Science Center campus, on Warson Road in Creve Coeur, Missouri. In collaboration with Clayco and LJC, Seneca leads the development which is scheduled for completion in June of 2020. Future projects will include a wide variety of commercial, industrial, retail and mixed-use developments. Many of the new developments will utilize an array of creative financing programs and serve to help grow St. Louis.
While Larry will continue to collaborate with his esteemed colleagues at Clayco & CRG, he will, through his new firm Seneca, focus on a wide variety of project types and sizes focused in the St. Louis region. Chapman Ventures, LLC, also owned by Larry since 1985, will continue to operate as a real estate brokerage firm and as an owner and manager of previously developed projects. Seneca will engage in the community through its corporate and individual staff involvement, together with strategic partnerships with important civic and professional organizations as well as worthy charitable organizations. Most importantly Seneca will support the development of its staff and create employment and promotion opportunities for men and women of every background.
