OUR STORY

SENECA Genesis

The very first convention promoting women’s independence and civil rights in America was held in Seneca Falls in 1848. This powerful movement inspired the origin of our company’s name. While considering the name Seneca from that perspective, Larry and his wife, Christy, came upon the Roman philosopher Seneca (the Younger) – who was a writer and playwright, and philosopher of Hellenistic Stoicism.  Built on the foundation and successes of Larry Chapman, Seneca Commercial Real Estate was founded in 2019 with a focus on creating great experiences in St. Louis.

SENECA Now. We Think Bolder.

For decades, Larry has touched many of the region’s largest and most challenging projects and has undertaken equally complex developments throughout the country – most notably as a principal of Clayco’s CRG. Examples include the architecturally significant corporate headquarters of Centene, Pfizer, Solae, Express Scripts, and Zurich Insurance.

Seneca’s first project under its banner is a state-of -the- art, four-story office building and lab, Edge@BRDG, serving the ag-tech industry for Benson Hill at the Danforth Plant Science Center campus. Current projects also include Edge@West, a Class-A office building, with an employee-centric environment that maximizes the building’s common areas as innovative amenities; and 9 Mile Garden, home of Missouri’s very first food truck garden, which is a family-focused outdoor entertainment facility and canteen – serving a wide assortment of local, domestic, and craft beers.

SENECA Future. We Rise Higher.
