Matthew Masiel
Partner
Matthew Masiel is a partner in Seneca Commercial Real Estate with Larry Chapman. He joined Seneca in the fall of 2022. A licensed Missouri Real Estate Salesperson, Matt has worked in real estate development for the last 10 years. Matt is currently working on a pipeline of projects with Seneca in the St. Louis region.
Matt is the owner of Screaming Eagle Development, LLC a service-disabled veteran owned small business focusing on the adaptive reuse of historic buildings into apartments for rent predominantly in the St. Louis region. Founded in 2016, Screaming Eagle has converted six properties at a total development cost of approximately $90 million into 276 apartments and 64,200 square feet of commercial office space.
Prior to forming Screaming Eagle, Matt was a Director at Stonehenge Capital Company focusing on the advising New Markets Tax Credit Transactions and underwriting Historic tax credit transactions for three years. Prior to Stonehenge, Matt was a Vice President at US Bank Community Development Corporation for 6 years, where he was responsible for underwriting and closing complex state and federal tax credit transactions with an approximate value of $1.5 Billion.
Matt served in the U.S. Army as an Engineer officer for four years from 2001 to 2005. Among his various assignments in the Army, he served as a Sapper platoon leader in 2003 during the invasion of Iraq with the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles”. He served as an Engineer Staff Officer while in Iraq and at Fort Campbell, KY. He is a distinguished graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne School, Air Assault School and Sapper Leader Course.
Matt has an M.B.A from Washington University in St. Louis Olin School of Business where he was a Knight Scholar (top ten in the class) focusing on finance and operations. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University where he majored in Civil Engineering. In 2019, Matt was named as one of St. Louis Business Journal’s 40 under 40. Matt is currently on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Athletic Club. He was previously on Lutheran Family and Children’s Services Board and chaired the 2019 annual fundraising auction.
